I think those 90s cartoons are still considered new.
Or newer.
I prefer the really old ones, the so called classics.

Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Road Runner, Popeye...

Those are "classic".

Grew up on Looney Tunes, also, before the Great PC Purge. You don't even see the classic WWII-era Bugs Bunny anymore.

Cartoons today are designed to turn kids into mush-headed Liberals, blowing the fog of a non-existent world into their heads to further confuse the **** out of them.

Oh...and I enjoy "The Boondocks". There appears to be only one rational character there, and he tends to be fairly quiet, but speaks intelligently when he DOES speak.

I bet that you'd like Tiny Toon Adventures. That show was made for the kids in my time, to get our attention on the Loony Tune franchise (it worked). The cartoon, X-Men The Animated Series, actually dealt with problems like intolerance, racism, prejudiced, etc. Most of the comic based cartoons had great writers, plots, dialogue, voice acting, and artwork. The creativity during the 80s and 90s were unreal. Some more great shows were Swat Cats, Batman Beyond, and Terrible Thunderlizards.

I remember getting early on Saturday/Sunday morning at around 6am just to watch quality toons until about 12pm (or at least tape it). Some of my favorites were X-Men (TAS 92-97), Spider Man (TAS 94-98), Batman (TAS 92-95), Gargoyels (94-97), Tiny Tune Adventures (90-95), Eek! The Cat (92-97), Pinky and The Brain (95-98), Beast Wars (96-99), Darkwing Duck (91-92), and a bunch of other great shows. I understand that the 80s had some quality classics too. Sadly, I stopped looking at cartoons when I started high school in 02 because they were all garbage and the animation sucked big time. I feel sorry for the kids growing up today because, what little stuff they have to watch is brainless. I actually can't believe I'm doing a "When I was a kid", thread but if you have any toons that you loved growing up, lets hear it.
I'm not sure I'd agree that you grew up in one of the best eras of cartoon viewing...I'm 40 and the toons I watched-Looney Tunes, The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, The Jetsons, Hanna-Barbera, etc. were better than most of the ones you mentioned. Aside from X-Men, Batman, and Spiderman, I wouldn't consider the others "classics".
I feel sorry for my kids-the cartoons today suck. "Dragon Tales" (esp. the theme song) grates my nerves.
(And let's not even mention the annoying red furball who lives on Sesame Street and has his face plastered EVERYWHERE... not a cartoon I know but just had to bring it up!!!)

I saw a lot of those on Cartoon Network and I liked them (I liked the Flintstone Kids too). Hanna-Barbera came up with an updated version of Johnny Quest, called, The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest and it was better than the original. I enjoyed looking at Captain Planet, Beetlejuice, Double Dragon, Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego, and even though I'm a dude, I thought PPG's was hilarious (that's another classic).

Flintstones, Quick Draw McGraw, Yogi Bear, Roadrunner and Yosemite Sam, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Heckle and Jeckyl, Snagglepuss, Magilla Gorilla, Woody Woodpecker, and bunches more!

NOTE: As I remember it, when the Jetsons first appeared on tv, if memory serves, ABC scheduled that on evening prime time tv in its first couple seasons. I LOVED IT! My favorite character was Astro (Rasro)!
