Although I agree that racism still exists here in the US, I am amazed at what I see and hear when I watch Bundesliga, EPL, or La Liga. Fans spitting on players, throwing objects (Rio Ferdinand getting hit recently at Ethihad), using laser pointers when players take free kicks (I see this happen to Leo Messi all the time).......none of this would stand here in the US.

I didn't say it was. I was commenting, in general, on everything I observe along with the racism.

Can I bring a little perspective? I grew up in a country w/ majority blacks. I remember as a little kid singing racist songs to white kids we saw passing by. You didn't see them often, and everyone else was black.

I think someone should have said...Hey you may be hurting someone's feelings. And we did know several white guys...usually wealthy people or musicians through my local "showbiz" realtives, and did not dislike white people.

I am not sure why the players are getting upset. These guys never made fun of ppl for looking different in their own countries? Yah right. Let any Asian person be a member of the Nat'l team in their own countries.

The spectators are probably going to tease them into the grave.

I can't stand racism in the US because the racists are idiots and are "visitors" here themselves, but in a mostly single-race country of human beings...making fun of ppl who look different is expected.

As long as ppl are not being violent (which soccer fans are going to do to whites as well, anyway), I would rather see the players not take it to heart. The fans are trying to get a reaction and probably only think it is funny.

Violence is a different issue, but making fun of ppl because of the way they look...it happens everywhere.

Soccer was rather popular in Spain during the middle ages, it was a town against the other and weapons were used. Generally there were some casualties, but I guess it was funnier. I would alliw the same today, and I would throw some figting bulls and two enraged lions and a pond of crocodiles.
