Is this a misconception? It seems like most Europeans don't visit the American South when they visit the US.

I think Europeans prefer to visit the NE, West and Florida for the same reasons that Americans also prefer those regions (to visit).

Huge fan of the college teams from Knoxville. Live there for a while and have a lot of kin in middle Tennessee however, I reside in SW Missouri. As the saying with Memphis goes, every place there is nice, but don't go to West Memphis.
