I think it's the task of the organizers of matches and police. Any provocation should be stopped by the police.

Otherwise the fight will occur. The actions of Russian fans are not related to provocations. It is planned criminal action. But the Russian reaction to this is largely connected with existing provocations.

I did not know about it, but I think that it is not important. Russian rioters certainly know about it, but they don't attach importance to this. This is not a sporting event for them, it is rather a military action. And if the enemy does not use all the power, it shows the weakness of the enemy. Of course, these guys are dangerous to society and should be insulated.

So now that the Russian track and field team has been banned from the Olympics, are we going to see the Russian soccer team banned from the Euros? We shall soon see.

All I know is that the Kremlin response will be "Russia is completely innocent. It's just a vast conspiracy and all the fault of the U.S., the Jews, and the evil, decadent West"

The Russian Women's Olympic Team are very disappointed by the News, as they had already packed and were ready to go.

The only reason Russia has been dubbed as a "communist country" was because people who stood at the beginnings of the new system referred to themselves as "communists."
Communo fascists is much more appropriate term. Communo fascism is as Russian as vodka, and it's back with new twists.

On the banning of Russian athletes from the Olympics.

My heart goes out to those clean and honest Russian athletes that are going to be hurt by it but I think it needs to be done. Either the Russian organizations can take it seriously or well, they can't. There's been numerous doping scandles throughout the years all over the world involving many nations and this is apparently only the latest. Some people are slow learners I guess.

I think that Russians should deal harshly with those whom chose the course they did.

I agree, it's difficult to understand Russia, if you are not one of the "locals," because you have to experience everything "through your own skin" ( which foreigners are usually spared from,) to have a deeper understanding of the country.
On another hand I have to admit that I didn't have an OBJECTIVE understanding of the country when I lived there - I had tendency to see only the dark side of it for the most part.
My understanding became much better in retrospective, only after I lived for so many years in the US.
Having knowledge from both sides really helps. Good indepth knowledge gained from experience and seeing with your own eyes, hearing with your own ears. You can't take everything written as fact because its only half the story or even while being mostly true omits a lot of reality.

Example. This thread is about living in Seattle and while a good discription in no way encompasses everything about Seattle and the Puget Sound/PNW.

From the geographic summary.

There are so many recreation options just a stone’s throw away.
This is a true statement. Just one problem, when/how can you enjoy them? Try getting a camp site at some beautiful spot without reserving it months in advance. People are not really aware of the obstacles that are in your way as you try to enjoy the beauty of the PNW.

Infrastructure in Seattle? Worse than described, hideous. I drive in it daily and my day is about 10 hours, 3 of which is simply trying to move from place to place.

Point being whichever end of the spectrum, good or bad it's everywhere. Russia is far from the worst and in some ways definitely better than other places. The problem is you need to see it for yourself and judge by experience, not what you're fed.

Russian state was behind massive doping of the Russian athletes. Since the days of USSR Russians view sport as a vehicle for the national grandeur, whatever it takes to win and to prove the superiority of Mother Russia and the Russian stock. It is quite amazing how international institutions and global leaders go above and beyond not to implicate Russian state and der Fuhrer himself in anything, or he might get angry. The guy has virtual impunity, no matter the body count and treaties he trashed, the twerps from UN, Germany, Italy, Holland, etc. not speaking of the 3rd world clowns stand in line to kiss his butt. It is safe to admit that world has not been a more dangerous in a while. Dear friend Vladimir exposed the rot throughout global institutions.
