It is funny when the pot calls the kettle black. Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, and of course there is the invasion of Crimea and soon to come invasion of the eastern Ukraine. Should we talk Chechnya????? Russia is an aggressive nation with its own politicians who's hands are stained with blood. Yes the United States has had too much war in the past decade, but it is because we were attacked on our own soil. Our response was appropriate considering the threats coming from the Islamic world. Even before the Ukraine crises Russia was very anti American. Now with the Ukraine crises I believe the current tension will lead to both nations digging in and developing more military abilities to counter the other. Looks like we could get to relive the cold war.

Exactly. I remember as a small kid that I was absolutely terrified about the USSR. There were no boogiemen under my bed, as there wasn't any need for it. There was something much worse, the Red Army. And I visited both Berlin and Tallinn in 1991 and I couldn't believe there were people living without electricity, buying stale bread, and everything was just so poor and dirty. In Potsdam there was a Soviet military base and I cried to my mother not to go close to it, because they were so scary.

If Putin wants a war, he would spend 50 billion is not the Olympics in Sochi. This is a huge amount for the the Russian budget. He could spend the money on building tanks and missiles.
So what? Russia could've managed with a lot less, but Stalin decided just to sacrifice his people.
