I've only been able to find one or two EU countries that have "self sufficiency visas". Other countries have an "other option" when applying for a long-stay visas, but I wouldn't know what to write down. I would mostly rely on money I have saved up which I have more than enough. I want to travel around Europe for several years or so, possibly more, but I want to make a primary residence in some country (in the schengen area) Maybe writing self-sufficient in the other box would work, and showing bank statements? I'm just not sure how much this would be welcomed by the visa office.
Are there their any countries that would allow me there as long as I can pay for myself completely during my stay and prove it ahead of time? Logically I think many countries would love that. I wouldn't be taking any of their jobs yet I would be putting money into their economy.
In a most desired scenario I want to work towards getting a full residency permit / green card so that I can live and move around anywhere in Europe.
I think you can settle in Austria if you are wealthy enough (but possibly are not allowed to work then). When you live there long enough you can get citizenship.

UK. Americans and British people speak the same language and have a very similar culture.
That is absolutely new to me.
