Wow. I knew it was huge. I didn't realize the amount of aid was gargantuan. And to think we attached no strings such as alliance with and loyalty to the U.S.? Were these people at State children who buy friends by giving away Mommy's and Daddy's money?

I repped the post.

Good question.

UN was established to give the US the legitimacy to continue bullying smaller countries that do not listen to its commands. If the US sometimes doesn't allow the US to be military aggressive, the US simply chooses to ignore it and does whatever it prefers.

The entire UN-IMF-World bank system was set up to maintain US/Western dominance, to set rules, regulations and international laws to their own advantage, at the expense of the rest of the world.

MARSHALL PLAN

if it wasn't for it, Europe would be today at the mercy of Putin.

Don't overestimate Europeans!

Let's just make sure I get what you're saying. Most of the U.N.'s budget is paid for by the U.S. and its allies. Most of the U.N. delegates of most countries represent no one but themselves and their leaders. And somehow the U.S. is a bully?

This view doesn't make sense.

And possibly the US would be either at Putin's mercy too or irremediably ruined. The US never does anything without second intentions in mind, as it should.

In this case you had a State Department that was unenthusiastic about fighting the Nazis, and wanted to restore Germany to its antebellum glory. Britain created the perfect emergency by announcing it was precipitously withdrawing support from Greece's anti-Communists.
