For the sake of this post, i am including Bulgaria, Romania, North Macedonia, Albania, B&H, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Serbia as the Balkans (I know there are plenty of different definitions).
I know that these areas are generally not particularly lgbtq friendly, but I am curious what the more lgbtq friendly areas in these countries would be? And aside from what I imagine to be the likely common answers of the bigger cities in the area, are there cities or towns or areas that have surprised you positively in terms of tolerance?
My guess will be Romania? Maybe Bucharest or so, Serbia or Albania will be very unlikely choice. About Bulgaria - well you probably don't want to hear some of the stories anyway...on the positive side at least you'd find some gay clubs but it's a bad choice for lgbt+.
Although you didn’t include it as part of your list, Croatia might be a safer bet, if only because of how popular it is with tourists.
