Hey guys and gals. I am running 4 miles a day and I plan to do more. But I used to experience chaffing often so I bought spandex(?) shorts to prevent chaffing. But now I have chaffing occurring again. Any ideas? Do I need to get new shorts? Is that the answer.

I'm mainly a lifter not a runner, but I'm partial to UnderArmour Heat Gear compression shorts as an undergarment. Used to wear a jock for lifting, but I find the UA keeps my junk in place just as well and also provides excellent range of motion, keeps you cool and gives protection from the dreaded chafing . You might give them a try.

Apply body-glide before every run. Last for about 10 miles.

I agree w broadbill, try BodyGlide. Or you can get a bit longer compression short/leggin so that it doesn't ride up and cause problems.

My problem with chafing is that it only occurs every so often. So to use something every time seems a little wasteful for me. I think I need to pay attention to what underwear I am wearing when it happens. Even though they are all boxer briefs, some are cut differently than others so maybe that is part of the problem.

Use Body Glide, tight clothing and vaseline. I have run over 26 miles using this and no chaffing.
