I really want some unbiased reviews of these classes. They look like they can whoop you into shape. Has anyone tried them? If so, would I still need to go to the gym on top of these classes?

Also, for those that have done them, do the exercises put strain on your neck/head? I ask because I recently had migraine surgery and I'm not allowed to put a lot of pressure in that area...but I need to start getting toned for my Mexican vacay in June! Any info is appreciated.

I bought a month of Pure Barre and I LOVE it. It definitely tones you. I've been going for about 2.5 weeks and I already notice a difference. It gets your heart pumping, but not to the point of a spin class. One of the best parts is they have lots of modifications for any injuries you may have.

I really like it. My clothes already fit better and everything is a little firmer. Highly recommend.

Love them! I go to a local studio, and when I don't have time I have a couple videos I workout to. I started it because I've had back surgery and was going to Pilates sessions for a back-friendly workout. However, Pilates didn't really get the heart pumping, nor did it feel as rigorous as I wanted. I am a convert!

Generally, most things you do are quite ergonomic. If something stresses a body part that needs a little TLC, any good instructor can suggest an appropriate modification. This was incredible for toning my thighs, strengthening my feet and ankles, and it has made a big difference in my balance. I always thought I was just a klutz, but darn if having better strength and balance hasn't made a big difference. It definitely gets the blood pumping and works the core too. It's great for cross training - I find I appreciate it most when I'm doing other exercise (like hiking a steep, rocky trail).

I got my husband (a chronic runner) hooked on it as well. He kinda poo-poo'd it when I first started til he tried it with me. He'll now freely admit that it kicks his butt and works him in ways running and weights don't. One of the other things I appreciate is doing this is when traveling. Barre video workouts require nothing but a bit of floor space, and are great travel companions.

It's certainly worth trying a few sessions.
