Mizuno wave Ronin and Mizuno wave precision. I think both are no longer made, but I bought several pairs of both a couple years ago, and still have at least one unused pair of each.
I tend to use the precisions for outdoor running; they are about 9.5 or 10 oz. The Ronins are about 7 oz, so I use those for speedwork (mostly treadmill) and races. I put lots of miles on my shoes. I think I have over 3000 miles on my current Ronins. I don't buy into the line of 'retire your shoes after 400 miles.' So obviously they are very durable.
The other thing I like about Mizuno is that their sizing seems to be very consistent. I don't have to worry about going up or down a half size when I buy a new pair, even if it's a different model. I've had problems with that with other brands.
sketchers got a real boost when Meb won the Boston Marathon wearing them in April, the first US citizen to win Boston since about 1983. He lost his previous shoe deal because he is 38 and people thought he was washed up. He got the deal with Sketchers, which was trying to break into the running market. Then he went out and won Boston. I've been thinking of buying a pair of Sketchers just for the sake of Meb!
I don't see why not. I go to the gym and lift weights in regular athletic shoes without any foot pain. I have heard it is bad to wear the same shoes all of the time, so you should have one pair of athletic/walking shoes for daily wear and a separate pair for running/exercising to reduce injuries.

Huh, I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing. I'm not a brand conscious person so I found skechers by accident after being disappointed by many, many, walking shoes. I don't like wearing sneakers because I find them too confining and often give me blisters. Skechers' Go Walk line is perfect for me. They're very light, have enough front room for my toes to spread out comfortably, superb cushion for my knees, and it's no-lace model makes it easy to slip on/slip off.
When doing Crossfit workouts I wear my Nano 2.0s or New Balance 730s (if there is a lot of running). Squatting and Oly lifts I wear Pendlay Do-Win shoes. Deadlifting - usually my Nanos.
I'm itching to give the Nano Speeds a try as a replacement to my NB 730s.
