hi I am a long distance runner for 16 years and currently just fractured my foot while running....im stuck in a cast for 4 weeks NWB......then possibly a walking boot for another 2....im an avid runner and workout fanatic so this really scared the crap out of me. I am in fear of getting out of shape and fat....im not the type to just sit around all day watching tv even if im injured or sick I need to stay active..my ortho said I can do upper body and I have also been doing legs just not putting weight on my foot..i heard a stationary bike works well but I don't think im at that stage yet being im only 1 week into wearing the cast....I also been cutting calories a lot, cut out alcohol, sweets...but im just wondering if anyone in here has ever had to go through this cast hell and what did you do to stay in shape and not let yourself go? any tips or suggestions?
thanks hawaiiancoconut......its just hard to be somewhat immobile when your so active..... :-(
