How or why is a fit appearance (on women) manly ?

I notice quite a few guys on message boards go out of their way to let others know their disdain for women who have (non steroidal) muscles.

Does anyone DIS-agree with the opinion that fit or athletic women look masculine or unattactive ?

Can insecurity or physical shortcomings play a role in a guys perception of a fit woman looking masculine ?

Do you make this stuff up? What message boards are you talking about?

The BEST looking women are slim, fit, and proportional. Not body builder like, but strong and lean. I am not a fan of the distance runner look. But some swimmers, some triathletes, track and field, divers, etc. look terrific.

I am far from masculine looking. If a man is scared of how I look it's because he is not secure in himself.

Men have different tastes in what they like in women, same as women have different tastes in what they like in men.

Myself I find skinny toothpick looking men gross as well as someone who does not lift weights and take care of himself.

to each their own.

you need to define your terms.

As already noted, fit/athletic does not equal body builders muscles (which I think you are calling masculine/unattactive)

Some people love the BB look. Different strokes for different folks

Athletic women are attractive (think any of the Victoria Secret models). Women with more muscle definition than I have, or ones that look like the female equivalent of Mr. Universe are not IMO. Then again, I am not gay nor bi, so I imagine that may be the reason I feel that way. The bottom line is that I prefer my women to look like women (like most of the straight male population), and not a post-op tranny in a skirt. YMMV.

Lean, fit bodies have been associated with men for centuries, just look at how men and women were portrayed in sculptures and paintings. It is a matter of traditional gender roles, too... even in 2013, society still tries to condition us to think of your typical gym as a sanctuary for sweaty, grunting men.

It usually is. They're out of shape themselves or they can't fathom the idea of a fit, lean and attractive woman, so they project their insecurities and call others "gay" for admiring said woman. Personally I find most athletic types attractive, not the juicers though.

"Fit, Athletic, Muscular" women.

The women Below are NOT fit, athletic, muscular. I consider these women average (low calorie, minimal / high treadmill cardio)

Sorry about the large img sizes, I'm on a mobile device.

If the examples above are my choices, I'm going for the NON fit women. The muscular women look ok, but honestly, they are kind of mannish looking. I don't like to see bulging muscles on women.
