Throughout your life... How many different forms of exercise have you enjoyed... ?

Some of us were Fortunate, enough by geography, that (after walking), a-dults wisely chose our 1st. exercise.
For me it was Snow-skiing, as by age 5 EACH child had to get around alone, to attend Kindergarten.
so here's how I developed physically:

age 1, was started on Snow-skis & continued for 12 years.
age 6, excelled in Gymnastics for 6 years.
age 8, improved sprinting for 8 years.
age 13, practiced badminton, basketball, ping-pong, softball, volleyball; (& was nearly drowned.)
age 46, laced-up my 1st. pair of ice skates...
age 50, I passed my 1st. 2 ice-tests
age 60, (tho from repeated medical malpractices disAbled), yet started yoga, walking, pilates, etc.
age 62, I conquered another fear, & learned to swim & love... it underwater
age 64, continued yoga, walking, pilates, ballet, etc.
10.at age .... I choose being *10* again this time: much easier to Jump, & Spin ... LOL

With all the Wonderful ways to exercise, what are your favorites ?

AND

re Exercise: what *fun* will you practice next ?

I guess my first exercise was hiking, which I have recently gotten back into.
As a kid I also did dance, softball, ice skating, and other random things
A few years ago I started doing 5k's and pilates

Today I did my first Spartan Race and I have decided to keep training and be more prepared to do it again next year. It was something totally new to me and exciting.

My next adventure will be learning to rock climb. I have always wanted to do that

Kickboxing. It's the most fun and empowering workout.

I'm 49. I first started when I was in my 30s.

If I could try anything else, it would be the Tough Mudder-type stuff.

I was in high school when TaeBo was all the rage. In my twenties I went to Taekwondo but it's so expensive. Now that I'm in my thirties I've discovered weight training and swimming. Oh and Yoga. Tomorrow I give Piyo a try.

Capoeira is on my list. But I don't have enough flexibility and upper body strength now. Hopefully they have better pants by the time I am ready. Stiff no stretch cotton trousers definitely don't fit me!

Are you planning to be a competitive basketball player or high jumper?

Very high impact. Can be very hard on the menisci cartilage in the knees.

5 replies today:
->Capoeira ? Brazilian martial art combining dance, acrobatics & music.
interesting.

->Climbing - overcame fear of heights, & then had a party on the roof. Does that count?

->Kick-boxing? ok. I'll stay away from you, lol

->Piyo ? never heard of it. PiYo Review - Is it Worth it? Thoughts from a Fitness Instructor

-> Rock-climb (this place has all the rocks in it you could ever want), but
not the kind of sport you would be after.

Continue having Fun!

I don't think we're talking about the same class. How can a Pilates Yoga combination class be high impact?
