Surprising to me was the finding that the abnormal levels can last up to a week after a lifting session.

What does that mean?

An hour of intense weight lifting for someone not used to it is a LOT. A lot of muscle heads don’t even lift that long.

It is trauma, the intense exercise causes tissue-breakdown.

Would expect kidney function to be affected due to muscle breakdown/protein loss.

I suspect -- but could stand corrected -- that NIH is talking about a "typical" heavy lifting session of an hour, rather than muscles under actual anaerobic tension for an hour. I mean, that would correlate to a session of several hrs.

know that feeling where your body tells you it is dying?

yeah, the liver's job is to clean that up so you dont die...

and other organs produce those enzymes, so it is only the "liver" that is responding... called them liver enzymes because most come from it
