First off hello everyone. I did not notice a thread to introduce myself so I made one. I believe I was here a long time ago, but I did not keep posting.
So I am here to lose weight, or gain muscle, and learn from everyone. Now am 165lbs, 5'8", 63 yrs. I belong to a gym. Recently rehabbed wrist, elbow, leg and back injuries.
My goals are weight loss, I gained about 15 lbs, and gain muscle. Also continue cardio in order to do sports.

Welcome! I'll state my usual spiel -- weight is lost in the kitchen, muscles are gained at the gym. Also keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, so you might actually end up gaining some muscle weight at some point.

There are a number of diet options out there. I recommend starting with small, permanent changes (maybe soda/sugary drinks). Think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet.

I like your spiel. Not a beginner, but been on hiatus. Want to get back into training.

Now working up cardio to run a 5k on turkey day.
Have running plan. Need something to do in the gym. Also keep a food log totaling daily fat, carb, protein.

As I said, need a cross-training routine to add to running. Id like to put 2 or 3 days a week in the gym.

Please offer suggestions for an injury free workout to add to running.

Hi folks, I meant that along with 3 days of tennis. Easy doubles for fun probably. Would do 2 days a week gym workout for a 63 year old.

Wow, a turkey day 5k is great! I have bad ankles, so have to limit my running. And I kinda hate running.

Tennis is a great option! I hike with friends once a week, and go to yoga three times per week. I also have a Basement boot camp program that I created and I'll do stairs a couple times each week.

You have to find what works for you. Check out the Workout: What did you do today? thread in this forum.

That's a nice idea Lucy. I should find lots of good reading there. I prefer weights and machines at the gym.

Take care and thanks for the tip.

Returning to this forum. It's been nearly two years. I have, or had, a workout partner at LA Fitness. Been working out during Covid by tennis, jogging, and weights.

I will not be updating this welcome thread. This thread is for welcoming and as two years is a lot of time with no updates I believe a welcome thread is needed on my return.

As a good friend of mine on You Tube would say...welcome back.

AND if all you had was a 15# weight gain from all those recent injuries, that’s really good. You already belong to a gym so you will be yourself again in no time.

Edit: sry...just noticed the thread is old & you bumped it. Did you reach your goals? I assumed it was a new thread because it was super short.
