This might be the opposite of what most do (although I'd love to hear if others have the same philosophy to muster up motivation), but I listen to music I don't like, that just has the exact beat to walk quickly to when on the treadmill.
Why? Cuz I don't stop or slow down as once I hit the 5th Madonna song on my playlist, that horrid Material Girl song comes on, so I walk hardcore like a lunatic to get in all I need before that awful tune. The others are barely tolerable, but that one makes me audibly express displeasure & rip off my headphones.
Possibly unorthodox, but if I listen to music I like, I spend more time concentrating on lyrics (& I've 2-3 times embarrassingly found myself singing out loud in the gym... no one was amused) & forget to fully engage in the exercise.
I only listen to music I like if taking an outdoor walk for exercise, but at a more leisurely pace. Then, I don't care if I'm working out at my optimal heart rate.
I started listening to the DOOM (2016) soundtrack a few months back and it's become my go-to workout / exercise / running music ever since. Love it. Perfect motivator.
Can you suggest some good continuous EDM. Possibly deep house?
Download the Digitally Imported (DI.FM) app for your phone, they run continuous music in any/all EDM genres. I buy a running belt for my phone so that it doesn't jiggle around in my pocket, you can them at Amazon for very cheap.
Never do it. It's usually raining here, and besides I enjoy the music of nature and want to be alert to the potential sounds of upset or surprised bears.
OK, well, all y'all who insist on running with earphones, just remember, when the Iphone-addled millennial takes you out while texting and driving, I told you not to do that.
Those of you who are referring to listening to music while on the treadmill can disregard.
That on the corner album is exactly what I was looking for. It's perfect for treadmill running while I read my kindle. Ambient non vocal jazz. Keep the suggestions coming
