I thought the norm was to be hungrier when you exercise! I've read about that many times. Also, I experienced it! Back when I used to do serious exercise (having foot problems of late) I could eat like a football player!!!!
(And I'm a 5'4" female!) But I would walk for over 2 hours at 4.5 mph on a 10% incline 6 days a week, do 100 situps 6 days, lift weights for an hour every other day, & use a stepper as fast as I could for about 30 mins every other day that I didn't lift! So maybe that's why...
But even a 4 hour hike makes you hungry!!!
I guess if you do light exercise it might not...

After today's four and a half mile walk, I was starving, it was a first. I still didn't over eat when I got home.

I wouldn't eat either. I'd be too tired to chew after a 4.5-mi hike!

Geesh! Would you & elfyum please come to my house, roust my butt out of bed each morning & be my personal trainers! My aching back muscles need you both!

Have fun... VV

Yes, I eat less. When I go jogging/running, I can't even eat right away after going about 4-5 miles. I try to eat very small, small meals every 3 hours, but sometimes I just can't. So, I wind up just eating 2 times a day and drinking a lot of water too. That has been suppressing my appetite also.

Actually the decreased appetite following exercise is normal because exercise will let your body release endorphins...feel good chemicals. Among these chemicals is seratonin...which also happens to communicate satation to your brain, when you've eaten enough. So your appetite should go down because you don't need to eat as much to maintain your seratonin levels. When you didn't have the extra seratonin circulating in your system before you ate your body needed to wait until your stomach signaled adequate release to signal the brain to stop eating. Understand?
Geez, I always thought it was because I was too pooped after exercising that I didn't want to eat! J/K

I usually just wanna lay on the lawn and pass out.

Actually I eat more- but smaller meals. I try and eat healthy; veggies etc, that 'fill' me up. Eating does make your metabolisms work quicker.

Yes, it's true, but it's very difficult though sometimes to eat more than 2 meals during the day after a very hard, strenuous workout such as jogging/running 5-6 miles...All you want to do is just drink water all day...

Yeah, me, too. I get dang thirsty but I have no appetite. I didn't know that eating would actually make your metabolism work faster though. Ugh, it's hard to force yourself to eat!
