Last I checked it looked to be a clear night with a promising Aurora forecast, but I'm not seeing any photos here.

it's called overcast. In Homer it has been cloudy we see the sun sideways not overhead. Maybe next flare up we will see something.

It was cloudy on the 9th, and by the morning on the 10th there probable weren't any Auroras left to be seen. It usually takes 48 hours for the Auroras to show after solar flare. If 48 hours later is sunrise in Alaska (for example), the Auroras can't bee seen, and more than likely will be gone by nightfall. But when successive solar flares take place for a couple of days, the Auroras can be visible for a longer period of time or nights.

I remember that, about the two days; in 2011 there was a CME on March 7th and on the 9th and 10th the whole sky lit up.

I thought the forecast showed clear a couple nights after this latest solar event--shoot. Hopefully next time!

Nope. Fairbanks was socked in with clouds, then last night it was cold and clear and we had no lights. I stayed up till 3:30 waiting on any.

We were supposed to be able to see them here in Seattle. I had wanted to drive out to a dark area but wouldn't you know it: cloudy as ever.

I don't think we had quite the storm that was predicted. I was up till 2AM both the 9th and 10th but was socked in with fog too.

You are probably right about that. I think that mother nature often trows a monkey wrench on the forecasters
