This is a pretty funny complaint/observation. Respectfully though, I have to disagree. I don't see it as an issue one way or the other. An undershirt looks just fine. In fact, if a guy has chest hair it looks incredibly disgusting if he's not wearing an undershirt in that situation.

Will you please explain that to my husband? He won't wear them.
I wear white undershirts under just about anything, also under pull over sweaters for a little more insulation and so you dont feel the rough fabric / seams rubbing on your body that can cause some discomfort or chafing caused by friction if you move around alot.
an undershirt also helps to keep warm and keeps the draft out, especially if you live near the ocean, kind of like thermal underwear / layering.
sometimes just having a undershirt is enough to keep me comfortable when it cools down and I dont have a lightweight jacket, so you dont get chilled if your out and the temperature goes down.
