Depending on the season that may not be practical. Also, from a social perspective, walking around in your boxers isn't fashionable.

One student told me the purpose was to give as much space as possible to "hide stuff".[ Use your imagination -- I was teaching in a ghetto.]

Drugs, weapons, etc.... I've heard that, too. Idiots.

I get the appeal of the look, but it is inappropriate for someone to have their underwear exposed that way in public.

See? You can disapprove of sagging without being culturally insensitive.

Ridiculous, ugly, impractical, and proof of how fashion victims can be made to wear just about anything in pursuit of "style". I find it hilarious in a pathetic sort of way,as though the brains of the individual have shrunk to the size of a dessicated pea-pod. Mindless sheep are never that attractive let's face it. The funny thing is they always seem to try and pull their pants up showing it really can't be that comfortable at all.

It makes me want to point and laugh at the sheer idiocy of it all. Nothing new though, fashion has always had morons with bigger wallets than brains, women in 18th century France, wearing wigs with ships on top and other assorted decorations , taller and bigger than the last being on example which springs to mind.

I dislike the whole rap/ghetto/thug culture. Rick Rubin and Russell Simmon are the 1s responsible.
Rick Rubin? Why? Because he produces rap music?

He certainly doesn't appear to be the type to sag his pants...

Actually, it didn't start in prisons. It started in crack-war ravaged neighborhoods where the younger kids wore their gunned-down older brothers' jeans in part as a tribute, and in part b/c the family couldn't afford to buy new clothes and shoes -- remember the floppy, unlaced sneakers? Then some fashion people saw it and made it a "statement."

I don't like it, then or now.

He commercialized rap music. It used to be breakdancing, beat boxing, freestyling but after def jam it became a corporate product. I was also being sarcastic.
