Definitely the first one, by far. You could always peruse the pattern books to see if they have anything you like. I saw some veeeeeery nice coat patterns when I was looking earlier this week - going to wait until tomorrow to buy them since they'll be on sale.
Have you picked out the exact faux fur you plan to use? How long of a pile are you looking for? Or are you going for a short pile? Lots of variables with making a coat out of fur (whether real or fake).
