All three can work, and for different men, the answer is normally different. Hubby has a standard goatee, which he's had for 10 years. It looks great on him, but can look stupid on some guys.
Full beard wouldn't work for my husband, mostly because it doesn't grow in straight between his chin and sideburns, but some men look great with one.
Clean shaven looks good for most men if they have an attractive face, but for some, the hair accents the positives and looks better, like for my husband, who is balding but shaves his head hair.
A beard can make a man look really good, and I think heavy stubble or a trimmed beard looks much better than a cleanshaven guy. It's more rustic and masculine.
I opted for clean-shaven but with hesitancy. For me it really depends on the man. I actually like a trim moustache, and I love sideburns (not the pork chop style!). A trim beard on some can look sexy.
But I absolutely cannot stand bushy beards and "shadows" (makes the face look dirty to me).
Look are depend upon the man to man. Some looks good in clean shaven some looks god in beard.
