it's a fad, I would guess it will become unpopular again as the fad fades

but will always be popular with the lower class, criminals, gangs, etc

I agree, it looks very silly seeing all those people covered in tattoos these days

and Ive seen some terrible tattoos, just looks like bruised up arms with old tats when the detail fades, I dont know why they think it looks good?

I would point out that not everyone who has tattoos is a loser. With that said, I work at a small engineering start-up of 25 nerdy men and only 1 of them has a tattoo (not me). As you pointed out, MOST professionals don't have tattoos and aren't defacing their bodies.

So many people so ignorant about tattoos and tattooing.

I'm heavily tattooed and a pilot with an engineering degree. I received them because I think of tattoos as art and I truly like the way they look. It's as simple as that. I'm not a *****, or a criminal (I have a perfectly clean record and that includes a 10 year FBI check which is required when you work in secure parts of international airports) don't do drugs and am a homebody for the most part.

It's not a 'fad' as humans have been getting tattooed for thousands of years, it's just become more socially acceptable. As for the 'terrible' tattoos that fade, yes those exist. They are also caused by having an inexperienced tattoo artist, subpar ink and not taking care of it. I have a friend who has full sleeves that are more than 10 years old and with very minimal touch ups has kept them looking nearly brand new. My left forearm was done nearly 8 years ago and I still have people asking if it's new because I take care of my skin, don't tan and exfoliate and moisturize on a regular basis.

Please, educate yourself before using rash stereotypes on people.

Oh here we go again. Maybe do a search first. There are plenty of threads on this subject here in fashion and beauty.

Also, I am not lower class, a criminal, or in a gang. At nearly forty, I have never even had a speeding ticket.

I am a 44 professional and am thinking of getting a tattoo. It will be small, and I'm not sure where it will be.

Just because you have an opinion it doesn't mean that everyone shares it. Life is like that in general, right?

I really want to get one on my chest:

coroner: try CPR one more time

I figure if you can make a coroner laugh then you had a pretty good life!

My cousin's husband has both arms tatted up and he says it's soothing. I told him he's a lunatic.

Some of my friends from HS got them in graduation day because it was the thing to do I guess. My one friend got the names of his mother and grandmother tatted on his upper back. His mom and grandma found it awesome. My other friend got a cross with rosary beads on his rib cage. Which was ironic to me since I think the Bible says somewhere that thou shalt not mark one's body or something like that lol.

I don't really care if a person has tattoos or not, but what I don't get is why someone would get them on their face, hands, neck, or any other areas where it would be visible every day.

There are tons of these posts already. Take your ignorance and judgemental-ness elsewhere because a lot of us on here have tattoos and don't care what you think.
