So it finally dropped below 70 degrees here in Houston and it looks like all the women are excited to wear their tall boots. Do you have a preference for winter or summer fashion for YOURSELF (i.e. I'm not asking men if they would rather see women in summer clothing, hahaha). I like winter because you can make some cool looks with layering, plus I think a nice coat makes for a sophisticated outfit. Winter clothing is also more forgiving.
I'm up in the frozen north, and it's "ugly sweater weather" right now... as in, very cold, and everyone has to be bundled up in so many layers that fashion is somewhat irrelevant. I guess it's human nature to want the opposite of what you're used to... I'm waiting for Summer to get here so I can get into the lighter clothing and floppy sandals. *shrug*
Though I like boots, I passionately despise winter clothing. All those layers and bulky fabrics make me feel claustrophobic and itchy. I love how free I feel in a sundress or shorts and a tank top. No constrictions, no heavy coats to take on and off as you go in and out.
When I lived in Fort Lauderdale, once it dropped below 75F, it seemed all women were wearing tall black high heeled boots. They looked like hooker boots and well, I guess thats fitting for Broward County and all.
I love my summer clothing but hate this heavy winter stuff. It takes so long to get dressed in all the layers and you can't even care about style because the priority is to not freeze to death. I do like my down filled winter coat but I'd rather just jump into a sun dress and sandals --it's so easy and you don't have to cover it up with a coat.
It's Apples and Oranges for me. I love the variety of colors and styles of Summer, but like the classic sophisticated earthy hues of Winter. I tend to be more creative with pink, orange and yellow of Summer, but conservative with the grey, black and purple in Winter. But that said, with the snow I've already had, I wish it were warmer so I could wear my pumps, or booties as opposed to snow boots most of the time.
I'm from Chicago, so I've seen plenty of both summer and winter fashion. Somehow, winter fashion seems more sophisticated to me, but that may be because I love a good pea coat.
I agree with the people that say that comfort takes precedence over style in the winter. It's great when the temperature warms up because the colors are more cheerful AND you can be comfortable without swaddling yourself in layer upon layer.
I like *fall* weather. Houston summers had me wearing the bare minimum that was socially acceptable and Boston winters have me in layers upon layers. Give me fall weather dressing (which is...Nov-Dec in Houston, ha!) any day.
