Howdy, I am wanting to dress up my western lifestyle at times. How do I pull the jeans sports coat look that I see some of the city boys wear out on the town and for business. I know I need to leave the trophy buckle at home. Should I wear roper boots? I am 6 ft 2. 180 lbs. with a 34 waist. Basically fit. How do I pull the look together?

It's easy just make sure everything is subtle and understated. Here's an example outfit:
Boots need to be polished and plain, nothing outrageous like these or these
Belt needs to match the color of the boots and buckle should look like this one
The jacket or blazer need to be tailored, not too tight nor too loose, not too short nor too long, it needs to sit right below your butt. Here's an example.
You can't go wrong with an oxford cloth button-down collar shirt like this one .
Wear a denim shirt, a blazer and jeans and your boots. To vary the shirt, try a nice button down in a light blue or a white oxford cloth. Tie not needed. I love that look...and don't forget your hat.
Gabaghoul gave great descriptive guidelines. And, Trace Adkins really does cowboy chic very well. http://www.nbc.com/the-apprentice/vi...season/n33218/

Mmmmmmm, I love me a man in Wranglers, boots, a nice well fitting shirt and a jacket. My husband just bought a really lightweight suede jacket in a dark hickory brown color and he wears it with jeans and cowboy boots, a nice belt (not a huge belt buckle) and one of those George Strait sort of shirts - and he looks DIVINE.
But...we live in Texas and that's a very typical way for a man to "dress up." Might not be so common elsewhere.

Yeah, pretty standard here! I was in Buc-ee's the other day , waiting in the deli line, admiring an older gentleman in slightly faded jeans, an aqua button-down shirt, navy jacket, brown hat and brown boots. Great color combinations, plus he had salt & pepper hair and ice blue eyes.
I grew up with an older brother who dressed this way and it always seemed sharp and attractive to me.

Hey, that might have been my husband! We've been in the San Antonio and South Texas area several times over the past few weeks! LOL
