Whenever I'm around my female co-workers, they are always dishing out compliments to each other, and I'll throw in a few myself. But they never compliment me on my hair, clothing or anything. I'll change my hair and I won't hear a peep from them; but they'll give 500lb Bertha a compliment on her new hairdo before they give me one. However, men are more likely to give me a compliment when I look nice. I don't get it. Am I boy pretty? Do I have a look that only appeals to men?
It's possible people provide compliments to people who are fishing for complements. Those being complimented want to be and strive to be complimented. Perhaps your manner and appearance aren't sending a message "Please Compliment Me".

Their demeanor is no different from mine. Bertha will put a crappy wig on her head and all the women in the office are telling her how great she looks...yet if I curl my hair or wear something nice...I hear nothing.
I would buy an even crappier wig and wear that just for fun to see what they do.
;P
Maybe I should. I'm tired of never getting any compliments from women and just being totally ignored like that. I try everything, I wear nice clothes, style my hair, and never even get a simple "that's cute". I just don't get it. I'm always the one who never gets compliments and its really affecting my self esteem. I feel like it lowers my social status
Maybe you're ugly? That happens as you start getting old
