Here are products that I use throughout the year (to maintain my acne-prone sensitive skin... depends on the time of year):
-Dove for Sensitive Skin unscented bar soap
-Alba Botanica AcneDote Face Scrub (for when my black heads are bad)
-SheaMoisture African Black Soap
-Aveeno Daily Lotion
Have you tried the Clinique line of acne products? Its somewhat expensive, sold in dept stores like Macys, but high quality. I have used their soap for 30+ years...and I think my skin quality is good. I started with their soap for oily skin, then gradually changed to the mild, then for dry skin.
OP, you might be over-stimulating your oil glands with products that are too strong. I had super-oily skin for years, it was a constant battle. Its mainly hormones, and riding it out doing the best you can. Give Clinique a try, just start out with the soap. they have a tremendous amount of products, don't let them talk you into everything they sell, just get the soap and try it, good luck!
I agree with the others about not putting those oils on your skin. I tried organic coconut oil on my face about a year ago (after hearing so many others raving about it), but in about 3 or 4 days I developed a few pimples. When I stopped applying the oil and went back to my old routine, my face cleared to normal. Diet, hygiene, certain things you many not realize you're doing can contribute to acne breakouts. For example, touching your face. The oils and dirt on your hands transfer to your face when you touch your face often. Also, washing your bedding and pillow cases often are also important. Body and hair oil get trapped in the bedding fabric and if you don't launder them often enough, that oily build up on your pillow case transfers to your face.
I use a bland cleanser for sensitive skin, like Aveeno or Neutrogena with a Clairsonic brush. If I had breakouts I would go to a dermatologist, instead of messing around.
Important: Cleansing skin is one thing, but nobody has talked about what to dry your face with. Towels breed bacteria; suggest using only paper toweling. Viva is a soft brand. And never use a washcloth more than once.
Also, flip your pillow after 1 night, and change it after the 2nd night.
A quick rinse with vinegar followed by rinsing with water will remove any soap residue.
No paper towel is going to be as soft as a soft towel (I like luxury towels). Just wash them often and pat-dry. Cleanliness of items was a good point to raise.
I'm 40 with no wrinkles except a few on my forehead. ( i wrinkle my forehead all the time.)i have acne prone skin too.
You are too young for wrinkles.
Use a mild cleanser, such as Cerave foaming face cleanser for oily skin. It has ceremides and hyaluronic acid to help keep skin hydrated. I do massage it in for a minute or so, like a mask.
Then I use tretinoin, which is a generic form of retin-a. It helps with keeping collagen levels up and reduces acne.
If my skin is dry in winter I use a moisturizer for oily skin. Sometimes I use a vitamin c serum.
I never use anything unless it has shown to help with anti aging in a clinical trial.the most expensive thing I use is the tretinoin. ( it's a prescription)
That's it. People ask me all the time what I use, because I have great skin. They don't believe me when I tell them. Oh well...
