Corsets abnormally distort the the female shape, girdles do not. Girdles are a form a shapewear, which simply smooth out bulges and minimized muffin tops. They are used to create a hourglass shape, not to create a freakishly small waistline. I sold lingerie for many years, so I know my way around a girdle; the most you'll shave off is and inch or two, which gets redistributed to other areas.
I read that a girdle can actually take 5 inches off the waist. Which would create a waist is the 16-19 range for a skinny woman.
I already brought up how it is an average for many skinny women. As a 22-23 inch is pretty normal if your body weight is low.
From this end it just seems you don't know what the meaning of skinny is.
Barbie does not just have an extremely skinny waist but an enormous bust. One site said that it would be a 39 FF bra I have also read that it may be like a 42 G bra . I am not totally sure how bra sizes go, but I think that they may be A, B, C, D, DD, E, EE, F, FF, G. Do you have any idea how large an FF or G size bra really is?
BTW, some sites say that Barbie's waist size is like an 18 inch waist. Hmmm, a bust line 21 to 24 inches larger than your waist? Without surgery? IMHO, VERY unlikely.
I believe that you may know a few women with a 22 to 23 waist but do they also have a 39 FF or 42 G bust size? That is why so many people are disagreeing with you when you keep saying that it is "common" for skinny women to have "Barbie like figures".
The imagine produced in that link in Post #1 is all wrong and I do not believe the bust would be as huge as people speculate it would be.
Pam Anderson has the shape. She has a very similar shape, though not as small a waistline, and nothing for a butt. She even looks more like Barbie in the face than the woman who's spend wads of money to look like the doll.
Doesn't matter. My post-3-babies-body is very different from my mother's and grandmother's; they went from rectangle to apple, while I went from rectangle to an hourglass/borderline lollipop.

My mom actually is 40 and small than I am she's partially the reason I don't consider myself all that petit. Just a normal skinny girl.
And as someone who fitted women for girdles, I assure you that is in correct. Corset, yes... girdle, no.
you just said it yourself that it creates an hourglass shape lol...
