That's not me, but looks like what I do (though the model is using a bandana rather than a scarf). My hair is a bit shorter, but it still works. My biggest hair menaces are oily at the roots (so no volume there) but frizz at the lengths and ends. This trick combats pyramid head and makes everyone think I put a lot more work into it than I did!
That looks awesome, and a fun change of pace from my usual ponytail, but I feel like my hair would slip right out of it. If I try it, I'll report back.
My hair tends to slide out of scarves/scarves slip off - especially if they are silk or some other very smooth material. I think it's a combo of straight, smooth, slippery hair, and head shape.
Look online for a velvet head band. They are sometimes sold as wig grips. Women who wrap...including me...swear by them. Your wrap will not slip so long as you put it on the correct way.
i have short curly hair so hats have never been a good look for me. When you say "scarf" I think of the wispy square ones my mom (and grandma) would put on when it was windy....I might wear something like that around my neck but never on my hair/head. My hair's too short to tie back or put up so basically I'm stuck with whatever my hair does that day!
BTW -anyone remember those clear plastic fold-up rain hats women used to wear that tied under the chin? OMG - now THAT'S a bad look - thank goodness for umbrellas!
Right, that's what I noted in my first response, but OP hasn't been back yet to clarify if, by "don't like your hair," she meant "don't like your hair ever, in general," or "don't like your hair on a given day."
There are some days when I hate my hair (usually when its overdue for a trim and won't behave). Other days when I love it.
Sorry I wasn't clear in my original post. Yup, I hate my hair every day (it's thin every day and getting thinner by --it recently clogged up my vacuum cleaner!) But I also have "bad hair" days, too. And now I can't dye my grey hair anymore due to a reaction to color (posted in the Hair forum).

I read on YouTube, a trick to keep a scarf or similar from slipping is to wear a stretch velvet headband underneath to grip it.

This looks really great! Gotta try this one, with a colorful scarf or a sash.
I sometimes divide my hair in two, like I'm going to start braiding it. But instead of braiding, I'll take a woven ethnic sash (like a hand-woven item from Mexico or Guatemala), and wind each half around my hair, then tie it up, crossing the two ends in front, and tucking them in. I don't have any pics, but you can see it on Mayan or Tibetan women. It looks very "ethnic" on them, obviously, but I've been surprised at the compliments I've gotten, especially from men! I guess it's something unique, so it intrigues people. You could do it with a scarf, or any colored cloth.
And you don't have to have particularly long hair to do it. If you have shorter hair, you can still wind the sash/scarf around as much hair as you have, and keep twisting it long enough to reach your forehead (angling up, as you twist), and cross the two parts over your crown, and tuck whatever length remains under the sides. If it's long enough, you can bring it back down to the base of your skull in back, and tie the ends there, and let them hang, or tie a bow. You can get creative with it.
I wrap daily due to hair loss and being bored stiff with wigs. I like the look much better than fake hair.
Do you wrap and tie scarves or buy "pre-styled" tied scarves/turbans, etc.? Cheaper than wigs. I recently bought some long, cotton voile scarves in multi colors ($2.00 each)--can wear around my head--or around my neck, too.
