Nope, wrong characterization of my post. I won't call it a lie, just wrong. I certainly did not "joke that they should be fine with being mistaken for a prostitute." I related the Chris Rock joke that "If woman wears a prostitute's uniform, she should not be surprised if someone mistakes her for a prostitute."
Does that mean they should be "fine" with it? No. Only that they should not be surprised.
Do I think women know when they are provocatively dressed? I suppose there may be some young girls who don't realize what is provocative, but--and this is what I said--when a woman knows what to wear when she intends to be provocative (such as to a nightclub) and then wears the same thing in a different venue--such as to the office--that woman does know she's being provocative at the office.
Nor did I "'post what women think." I clearly said "I think...." and I made even more clear that I was not asserting an iron-clad rule.
I certainly never said they did--you must have had me confused with someone else's post. I said that I did not get upset with being approached by women, and if there were any men getting upset about women approaching them, it must be a generational thing. I didn't say anything about how women react to it.
I obviously misunderstood your intent, but posting a joke like that implies you agree with it. I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Thanks for clarifying.
You did say that women appreciate men's looks in an aesthetic way though, and I don't think you can generalize that about women, especially because you are not female. Some women do and some women are sexually charged by men's looks. (Magic Mike anyone?)
If you could hear some of the raunchy things said by elderly 80+ women about men's bodies you would be shocked. Especially the widows who don't care about what others think anymore:-)
I object to the OP's phrasing "Are women flaunting their wares". Wares are items for sale. Women are not advertising their bodies for sale, no matter what they wearing.
For the most part, I think the women and men in my community exercise an appropriate level of decorum in behavior and dress. That being said, I just spent the day at Ren Fest, and as some also say about the internet, what has been seen at Ren Fest cannot be unseen.

I said: "However, I don't intend to portray the issue as though it were a Berlin Wall that nobody can cross. There are always outliers."
That does not imply an intention to make an iron-clad statement, certainly the opposite.

You know, with the partial collapse of the 9-5 work week and the drop in SAHMs, women will go out in less conservative clothing, and normal women probably have been flaunting aspects of their beauty for thousands of years. That, however, is not an excuse for how far some women are taking it. Since the burka thing always come up in threads like this - the one concern about that is the flaunting likely is fueling hatred of the Western world.

Point taken. :-)
Do you see my point that your view of women's thoughts regarding visual stimulation is your opinion? You are entitled to your own views, but you are not privileged to know women's inner thoughts or hear them when they have private discourse with each other.

It's my opinion, but it's not an unstudied opinion. The difference between male-targeted and female-targeted pornography is not simply the genders of the subjects.
If I saw a girl in a cute sundress and blushed a bit, would that be offensive ?
No Adi, that would be sweet.
You can look, say hi, or just blush. it's all fine. Women don't get upset by that.
A very very select few might, but that's more about their issues that yours. I've only known one girl like that, and she was like that because she was abused and had been an underage stripper. She did it to show dominance. 99.5% of women don't mind appreciation.
