"Due to the delicate nature of the dress, the bride will wear a different dress for the actual ceremony, slipping into the vintage family heirloom for cocktail hour."
This seems backward to me. If she is only going to wear the delicate dress for a moment, she should wear it for the wedding ceremony itself, not at the cocktail party(!) She went through all the trouble & expense to have tailors refurbish the dress, she should wear it for the wedding.
Maybe she thinks it's ugly (it is sort of ugly by today's fashion) and only wants to display it as a novelty rather than at the main event.
I like it, but then I like anything antique. I'm disappointed she isn't wearing it for the ceremony. What's the point? 10 other family members were married in it, she's just going to wear it after the fact.

I just read that. If she isn't wearing it for her wedding, she's not really carrying on the family tradition. The explanation that she's not wearing it for the ceremony because it's delicate doesn't ring true. If she believes it's so delicate she can't wear it for the wedding itself, she wouldn't be wearing it at all. I think she doesn't care for the dress as much as she claims, which is why she's wearing a different one for the ceremony. I can't blame her. Most modern brides wouldn't wear an antique dress. But she should have just passed on the dress altogether. I can only imagine how much $$$ it cost to restore it

Maybe her mom wanted this to happen.
