Developing a characters' fashion for a book I'm writing, and need advice.

How would you describe the style depicted in the photos I've attached, if you had to categorize it? Preppy? To me, these outfits seem a bit too eccentric and flamboyant to truly be "preppy" but I don't know what label would be better.

Furthermore, could you see a guy dressing in all of these outfits and still having a consistent "style" or do you think they are too different from each other?

I don't think they're all preppy. The first and last pictures look like someone trying to look Victorian or steampunk. The second pic looks like a geek from an 80's movie, the third looks like something the Mask would wear, the two floral just look really weird for a man to wear, and the yellow coat is the only one that truly looks preppy.

I think they're too different for one character to wear unless he was in disguise.

I would say some look preppy, others look like "urban chic".

Doesn't look like one person's wardrobe and they are some pretty different styles.

hmmm, I'd go with "Eclectic Bon Vivant" as it appears one needs money and be a good liver with lots of variety in stylistic elements.

Can I get a citation?

I'd go urban chic or hipster for all except the next to last. That one is more preppy.
