I had a fabulous facial a few days before my wedding. Bright lights, magnifier, the whole works.
Years later, I had another facial and expected the same thing, but it was only lotions rubbed in. And I was mildly allergic to one of them, had to wash as soon as I got home.
I'm not sure what to ask for to get the good kind of facial, so I've been afraid to try again. And I'm getting older, could use some help.
In my 20s I had problems with oily skin, black dots, etc. but we did not have the products available now. I found a lady who actually had some kind of medical training and her procedures improved my skin a lot. But I probably could've just done the same myself with the right products. For the last 15 years or so I've been a Paula's customer too and have no complaints.
IMHO more agressive facials are actually not good for the skin. Before I found that lady I went through many "let's open your pores with steam and then squeeze and rub your skin" type of procedures and ended up with broken capillaries etc. You can read on this on Paula's Choice website. I don't use any agressive products or techniques anymore. "Rubbing lotions" is actually all you need, just have to be the right lotions. And healthy lifestyle, of course.
It is!! I can't believe I didn't know about this sooner!!!
What products do you use Dltordj?
Mostly her BHA, Niacinamide booster, and ultra Light antioxidant serum but I have about 15 of her products in my medicine cabinet right now. I was 18 when my mother gave me one of her books. I'm almost 38 now and have used her products for as long as I've been able to buy them.
IMO microderm and/or chemical peels is money well spent. Exfoliation is where your glow will come from. I get facials every so often as maintenance in between quarterly microderm and/or chemical peel treatments. Personally, I don't find facials very beneficial on their own.
I get a monthly facial--but it's a REAL facial. AKA--extractions, microderm, etc. I have been getting facials since I was 21 (I'm 35, now) and I realized that I hadn't gotten a "real facial" until I moved to LA. She gets everything out. Since I started seeing my current girl and have a regular skin care routine, I get consistent compliments on my skin. People also often think I'm at least 10 years younger than I am.
