I put on my favorite black skirt today and realized I've had it maybe 20 years.
It was $80 and I couldn't believe I spent so much on one item at that time - young and broke was I. It is a basic simple item but I couldn't find one anywhere so I gave up and spent the cash. Now of course I'm like - Wow! boy was a deal! 20 years later and it is still very wearable and stylish ! Wow
Oddly no matter my size or the weather (winter or summer) it is wearable. It's like magic.

I have two short sleeve sweatshirts that I still wear when working in the yard, I have had them since I was in high school, so that makes them about 48 years old.
Love them, one is burgundy and one is pink.
They don't look worn either as I only wear them a few times in the fall.....they are perfect for fall weather.
I have a number of clothing items that are 20+ years old, but one that comes to the forefront of my mind is a black leather vest that I got in about 1984. It came with a jacket and skirt, both of which are long since gone. But the vest I still have and wear weekly during the winter.
I have a cream colored lightweight surplice cross top sweater with semi-full long sleeves that I bought in.......1978 or so from Hill's Department Store (I don't think they exist anymore) for $11.99. It's a poly-cotton blend and it wears like iron. I probably wear it 2x a month now fall thru spring. It has a beautiful drape and is just the right weight for working in an office. I'm always surprised now when I put it on that it still works and still looks good.
I also have a pair of black suede strappy low platform sandals that I got on a Nordstrom sale rack back in 1989 when nobody was wearing such funky shoes (esp. not in size 10!) that I don't wear often, but they still work with certain outfits. Those I don't wear often -- and stopped completely for awhile when I was dating some shorter guys.
I got married in 1981 and wore a wool skirt and cowl neck sweater (remember those). When the sweater developed holes, I cut off the cowl and made a hat/neckwarmer out of it. Basically wear it the same way, around the neck, pull up over head to keep head warm. I still have it and I love it. No hat hair.
I have a wool cable knit sweater that I bought while in my twenties so that was about 30 yrs ago and I love it and will never get rid of it develops holes and then I will make leg warmers out of the sleeves. My grandmother taught me how to make other things out of old clothes .
A thick winter turtleneck sweater that I bought when I was in college...in 1990. So that makes it 27 years old.
It is still in great shape and even now I get compliments on it when I wear it.
