Judging by the other recent makeup thread, most people in this forum don't wear much or any makeup, but I know there are some who do. So for those of us who do enjoy using makeup, do you have any favorite YouTube makeup gurus?
I think my favorite by far is Nikkia Joy. I love her personality, and she has oily skin like I do, so many of her recommendations are very relevant to me.
Another favorite of mine is Zabrena. She's beautiful and just has a very sweet demeanor. Her reviews are very helpful, and she does both high and a lot of drugstore makeup reviews (even does "Frugal Fridays". She also does a lot of historically accurate makeup vids which are really interesting. They really highlight how transformative and artistic makeup really is.
They both wear their eye makeup heavier than I would for daytime, but I still get lots of great tips from them.
I used to like Wayne Goss (love his accent!) but he got a bit condescending and preachy. And everything's so dramatic with him. Lost interest.
I'm 68 and still love makeup. I don't even know who these "gurus" are, but I have watched many videos on things like contouring, cut creases, etc. I find them helpful but only if the person gets to the point and doesn't try to be cute or spend a year showing us packaging or whatever.
I watch a variety of them, big and small channels. I mostly search something specific I want and will watch a few until I find one I find the most helpful.
I wear very, very little makeup and don't actively watch any how to videos. I have seen a couple that were recommended and it's amazing what some people can do with makeup and how different they can make themselves look. Unfortunately I don't have the time or patience.
I like Carmindy from What Not to Wear. She's only a year younger than me so her tips are appropriate. She hasn't done YouTube in a while, but she posts a very short Beauty Tip of the Day video on Facebook daily.
Most of them are very self-absorbed. A few my daughters enjoy are Jessica Braun and Zabrena. Sugar Puff and Fluff is good, too.
Yes, that's a great way to describe them! They get caught up in their own hype and think THEY'RE the attraction rather than the makeup tutorial. I can't stand that and as soon as I see they're wasting my time trying to be cute, I find another video.
