Do you think it's around 80-90 percent in this day and age?
I wear makeup ( but you can't tell just foundation, concealer, clear mascara, eyebrow pencil). Do you think most guys do and not admit it? Also why wouldn't they wear makeup if you can't they have it on and makes them look better?
0% of all men I now know, or ever known in the past, have worn makeup. The ridicule would have been noteworthy.
This.
However when I lived in Houston, TX's Montrose area back in the 70s you'd see it occasionally because it was populated with a sizable amount of gay males.
Only one gay friend of mine wore makeup. The rest, no.
A pretty low percentage. Absolutely no way it is 80-90% overall for guys. As a guy who is very interested in fashion and has a lot of friends in the industry (both pure retail as well as on the design and production side etc.), even within that scene (where the numbers would be much, much higher than the overall population) it is in the minority. My guess would be in straight men you are looking at ~5% overall in the US. For men who are not straight, you're most likely looking at a larger number but even then I'd wager to guess <25% wear it on a daily, regular basis just based on my experience with friends or what i've been exposed to.
