I was wondering, does anyone think "Regular Fit" is going out of style? It seems like a lot of menswear now is either Slim Fit, Modern Fit, Classic Fit, or Big Fit, with the former two being slimmer than a Regular Fit and the latter two being more relaxed than a Regular Fit. It seems like a lot of the shirts that I buy are actually Classic Fit, which could explain why they seem to fit me well.
Interesting that the menswear market seems to be splitting up with all these different fits. The middle has apparently split in two with one being somewhat slimmer and one being somewhat more relaxed.
My athlete husband is 6'5 and weighs 235 and is very broad shouldered.
If he doesn't buy an XL Tall slim fit, he's swimming in the shirt in the waist. A 2X fits him in the shoulders but then he has about 18 inches of extra fabric in the waist.
With what I typically buy, they seem to be available in Slim, Classic, or Big. Some brands also offer Modern Fit, which is between Slim and Regular. Classic is actually more loose than a Regular but not as loose as a Big.
At 5'9" and 165 lbs, the Modern Fit (between slim and regular) tends to suit me the best. Or Brooks Brothers (which I shop a lot at) - it's the Regent Fit, between the Milano (slimmest) and the Madison (fuller cut).

Most of my shirts are Classic Fit. It seems like Regular Fit is going by the wayside, being replaced by Modern and Classic, one being slightly slimmer and the other being slightly more relaxed.
I mean, most places I see have 3+ fits and these fits are all fairly varied even from brand to brand. The name 'regular' might not be there, but what is 'regular' these days? These days there is a very wide range of fits available if you aren't beholden to only one or two brands.
