Just what I was thinking ..surely at the gym its ME time and not for phone calls from friends...surely a phone can be left in a bag for an hour or so...
I almost never use my phone for voice calls, but I manage a Cybersecurity team and I have people all over the world. I scan my email, messages and social media in between sets. I also listen to audiobooks playing on mobile apps. That's what I consider me time, being away from the family at gym and doing what I want.
I feel strange saying this, but I'm jealous of the girls at the gym who have workout pants with cell phone pockets. Of course the ones I've seen are all leggings, not the sort of thing I'd wear.
My cell phone sits in my front pocket and I'd prefer it out of the way when I work out. I feel like I'm going to hit it with weights when I do curls. I don't see a lot of men's workout pants with side cell phone pockets. I'm looking for something like the product shown at https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...317186218.html but from a reputable vendor.
Has anyone seen what I'm describing? I do have a pair of shorts with a cell phone pocket but they're the double layer type of shorts and the cell phone pocket is in the bottom layer. I'm looking for something with the pocket on the outside of the pants.
Thanks!

There are cargo pants, for men who have stuff to carry, but don't want a purse. Conceivably, you could work out in cargo shorts. I work out in shorts or old, loose jeans. I pay no mind to workout fashion.
But I've been thinking lately, that it might be a good idea to get one of those small wallet-sized phone carriers, that's barely larger than a passport pouch you wear under your shirt. They make leather ones that are strong enough to hold a phone, and thin enough for just a phone and ID & car insurance card, and a few bills, that you could wear as a cross-body. They come in colors for men, not just "decorative" colors for women: brown, black.

I agree. The only time I've left my phone in a locker is when I swim laps.
Regarding the workout pants, Have you checked this company?

Just search Amazon “men workout pants with side pocket”: tons of styles, colors, prices
When I play golf wearing cargo shorts I get my steps on Google Fit. But without the cargo pockets, in the summer at least, I lose the steps because I keep the phone in my bag. I am sweaty-phone averse.

No, I'm not interested in purchasing from a random Chinese manufacturer. I know too much about reputation, fake reviews, etc. I've been at this since before most people had ever heard of email.
That's you. As I've explained, I have staff all over the world. If something comes up, they may need to reach me. I also have a family and "I was working out so I missed your text" doesn't cut it. I don't text socially. I'm a 50-something guy, not a teenage girl.
Thanks for the links. I'm not looking for an armband, mp3 player or backpack. The gym plays classic rock but I listen to my own audio. I try to be in my own world most of the time.
