What is up with people wearing these glasses lately? They are so ugly IMO. Put a piece of tape around the middle and I swear they remind me of "Porky's Revenge of the Nerds".

Not everyone can carry off that look, that's for sure. I'm always reminded of George Burns or Harry Carey when I see them. They are sort of cartoon-ish.

Contacts people. If you can - look into them!!!

IMHO, Johnny Depp can pretty much get away with wearing just about anything. Saw him up close and personal at a Public Enemies film making near me. He had a much better looking pair of glasses on but the scarf was a tad over the top. (Sorry. Got sidetracked thinking about him. )

They look like those ugly cat-eye glasses people had to wear back in the 50's-60's because there was no other choice (example:Kevin's friend Paul on 'The Wonder Years') I'd rather walk around half-blind!

I think most people DO look into it. I never could, so I've always been at the mercy of whoever designs eyewear. The recent trend toward teeny tiny lenses with big frames drives me nuts. It means a huge area in my field of vision is out of focus and I have to swing my head around instead of just moving my eyes. Irritating when I'm driving, in particular.

The role of glasses is:
#1 - help me see the world around me well
#2 - to look stylish

I hate it when #2 interferes with #1.

I rememer Henry Kissinger in those glasses, too.
I like the look, only because I hate contacts
and I clean my glasses at least once daily.
I also like glass lenses, because they are easier
to clean.
The chunky plastic frames are not so delicate.

But, that is practical me.
I would like them in transparent plastic, though - not black.

I love the big framed sunglasses.

I think Oliver Peoples brought these things back.

Glasses, like shoes, have to change styles all the time to promote revenue. I guess the black ones are the kind that are popular now.

They always remind me of Lisa Loeb. I guess they look okay on some women, but on a guy they just look nerdy IMO.

I really dont know whats up with that. I see women wearing those big ol' gaudy sunglasses that cover over half your face, sheesh. Usually its a celeb that starts a 'trend' thing and everyone wants to be the caboose, following that trend, rather than 'sail their own boat'. I wear what feels comfy, what I personally like, not what everyone else wears just because its 'in' and havent lost any friends because of it.
