A girl friend convinced me to ditch the shoes & socks and start wearing flip flops with shorts. I didn't really like it at first but now I find them comfortable and wear them all the time now. I went to the outlet mall the other day and noticed that most of the guys there with their girlfriends/wives were in flip flops. I went to the hair salon the other day wearing flip flops and these two girls were smiling at me as I headed back for my haircut. I always thought women would rather NOT see guys wearing any kind of sandals so I stayed way from them, but oddly enough, I seem to be attracting more attention now. Do you prefer that guys wear sandals, flip flops, or closed shoes?
Athletic shoes with socks, loafers in the evening... no sandals or flip flops for me. That's just too casual and most guys don't have very attractive feet and are in need of a pedicure! Wearing socks is also good for absorbing sweat and foot odor.
IMO, flip-flops should only be worn by girls younger than 18 (though some drag it into college...ok). They are cheap beach shoes. If it's a casual day, and tootsies are prone to get too hot, I think men look the best in a brown or black leather sandal, either the athletic TEVA-velcro type or otherwise (I LOVE the sandals at Kino Sandal Factory in Key West!). I see a man in flip-flops and think "Did your sister buy those for you? Your girlfriend? Your MOM?"..
