I've always been a sneaker guy and would like to start wearing sandals but I'm not really comfortable wearing flip flops or anything too open yet. I was thinking of buying these:

Would this be a good way to transition into sandals?

They are ok. I wouldn't pick them out for DH, but Merrells are nice and comfy.

I like them. They look practical for outdoor use and a lot of walking (if insisting on wearing a sandal for walking). They look really comfortable, and I love the color, too.

My husband has some almost exactly like those. They're better than flip-flops if you're going to be walking around a lot.

They look nice and appear very comfortable. Just make sure that there's enough arch support for you. I have an old pair similar to those that had no arch support at all; thus, I seldom wore them.

That's another reason I was thinking of buying these over flip flops....and I would like to get away from the gym shoes if I can. I was told that gym shoes don't look too good with khaki shorts and I never wear gym shorts unless I'm at the gym.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I forgot to mention that I'm 30. Are these suitable for someone my age?

Yes, they would look fine. And if they're comfortable enough, you won't care.
