I would spray as well. Of course teach kids what to play with and what not but I would still spray. We had one in NM that I guess was hanging around the verggie garden quite awhile. Luckily I didn't get bit. I kept knocking down the web, and then, to my utter shock one day, there on the web and partly on the fence was Mrs Black Widow. I can tell you I spray and sprayed, you might call it overkill. I did decide, uf I sprawed a spider that much I don't want to think about how many times I might shot a burglar if I had a gun!!!!!!

most of them, as well as snakes are really not agressive; they just react when they feel threatened. I still don't want them anywhere around me...

Thanks for responding, everyone. We have been packing and are moving very soo so perhaps due to all the boxes they got in? I thought about spraying but we are moving in 3 days. So perhaps Ill just wait it out.

But im definitely sure it was a black widow now.it only had a red spot on one side. ..but ill definitely take all of your adviceand teach my kids not to play with bugs. I never thought i would have to teach them this always assumed it would come naturally. Lol

If it only had the spot on her undernieth side, yes, it was a black widow. Good luck with the move and the unpacking, that is always the worse part of moving. As for teaching your little ones, kids are amazing, they often sense what is and is not safe, but a little help from mom and dad can do wonders. They can be taught nature is wonderful and fasinating, but still dangerous....

Default Spiders!

Oh! There's another nightmare: Brown Recluses!

Thank goodness those things enjoy isolation. They're very common in Arkansas, but they enjoy dark, quiet places. They don't want to be around motion or noises or light. I have boxes of old magazines, and Brown Recluses absolutely love getting in there, especially if they're stacked in a corner or a closet.

As I'm sure most of you know, their venom causes necrosis. It's a little, harmless-looking spider that will cause big medical problems, especially if you think you can ignore the bite.
