is it OK to keep 3 gold fish in a 10 gal tank there about an 1 inch long we plan on moving back to my home town and don't want to get a big tank until we are back down that way after that we get a bigger tank we are moving are jack dempsey to a bigger tank and are gold fish to are30 gal till we buy a house then if there still a life then I plan on digging a pond for them?
Goldfish create a lot of waste so you need some really good filtration. They're also cold water fish and a 10 gallon is notoriously hard to keep stable in certain conditions.
for a SHORT period of time youll be fine, regular water changes and it might be worth adding a 2nd filter too.
long term...
general rule of thumb is 10 gallons per goldfish minimum.
(for long boddied goldfish like commets 20gals for the 1st and 10 gals for each additional.)

We used to buy the small feeders, keep them in a 10 gallon (3-4) until they grew to about 1-1/2 or 2", then put them in the pond. Now we have small tropical fish inside, the pond doesn't need any more. They grow faster out there, and we have 12 now at 6-8". You do have to change /2 the water at least every other week in that small tank.
