Got a few questions on a trip in either Oct or Nov. I'm taking the wife to KW (old town) and plan on staying from Mon-Fri. I'll be flying into the KW airport.

1. Should I rent a car or just mopeds (sorry but no bikes)? Who did you use?
2. Is Fury Water Adventures a good one to use (please I only want personal experience from people). Is there a better company that does the samething? I'm looking to go out and be able to do everything minus para-sailing.
3. Is 2.5hrs at Fort Jefferson long enough to check it out? I plan on using a Sea Plane to the island and they offer 2.5hr or 6.5hr excursion.
4. Is one month better over the other to visit, Oct or Nov?
5. Anyone use Barefoot Billy's (http://www.barefootbillys.com/jetski-tours/ - broken link) jet ski tours or someone else that does tours?
6. Anyone have good experience on hotels, motels, bread and breakfast, resort? Looking to spend about 1700 including air fare from Houston, Tx to Key West airport for 4 nights. I want to be in old town which I think is the most southern part you can go.

Dunkin Donuts are nasty anyway.

For those of you who want to get snippets of current things going on in Key West you can subscribe to this BLOG (http://www.JoesTravelingCamera.Blogspot.com - broken link). The blog (http://www.JoesTravelingCamera.Blogspot.com - broken link) is updated weekly, and is left G rated so viewing at work, around family etc isn't an issue.

For those coming to visit, make sure you participate in many of the events that go on.

There is always a reason to dress up!

It has been world famous that some of the best bartenders in the world work here.

It is common to see celebrities here on a weekly basis attending the events as well. Can anyone tell who this with her own security guards to escort her around?

Yes Key West is family friendly contrary to what people read on the internet. Here a daughter & mother enjoy the Midsummer's Night event at the Botanical Gardens.

There is always a coconut lying around for when you need to quench your thirst.

If you are driving from the mainland down to Key West you can expect about 43 of these guys to cross before you get here!

Even our lightning storms look great at night.

It's a must to enjoy the sounds of the steel drums while you are here as well.

You gotta really make sure you follow the directions on posted signs here though. We gotta keep everyone safe ya know!

However, to really enjoy what the Keys has to offer you got to get under the water and see.

Come join us, and if you can't join us soon. Just follow the BLOG (http://www.JoesTravelingCamera.Blogspot.com - broken link) from people that live here.

As my wife and I have looked at the Keys a couple of times as a possible relocation (lived in Florida my whole life, then moved to the frozen tundra of the north...what was I thinking?), I've seen lots of posts about the lack of medical services there. My question relates to that, but is a bit different then you think. What is the situation like for physicians planning to come down and open a private practice? Is there a lack of services because its hard to sustain a practice, or just because people don't choose to open them on average there? Thanks for any responses!

I'll be Starting Grad School in January, and as it's all online I was musing over what to do. (I could start working, push on through, live anywhere I wanted to etc.)

And I made the comment that I could 'kick back on a beach somewhere and do schoolwork' to a buddy of mine.

Well, I thought "Why not!"

From what I remember of on base housing it was VERY NICE (By Marine Standards anyway)

I havn't taken advantage of it since I got off active duty, but as I recall it's usually $7- $20 a night, and Although there is a limit... I would have no issues sleeping in a campground for the 3 nights or so that are required 'When the allotted time runs out'.
(I'll have to check on this)

Driving down there with a Kayak on top the truck, and my motorcycles behind sounds pretty nice.

I grew up on the Gulf Coast, Havn't dove in years (SCUBA) but I'd like to get back into it. (I'll have to get some Custom Fins due to my feet, but they exist)

I can think of worse things than living there for a few months until I decide what else I feel like doing.

Don't think money will be an issue, I've got a little over $2K a month coming in, and quite a bit put back. (Considering my modest needs)
-No debt.

Don't know quite what I'm asking, just looking for advice in a general way I guess...
Got the 4 runner, got it in tip top shape, just picked up a rooftop cargo carrier along with a Kayak...

Now I just need a mount for my Enduro Motorcycle.

I'll be on my way after Christmas!

Most people I know are. But I'm just staying at home. Fantasy Fest is a little too wild for me. Not comfortable with all the near nudity and drunk people. lol
