Are'nt there any groups that are local that can "picket" the little berg town that does this to people.

Will a neighboring town allow signs to be put up that warn motorists that they are about to drive thru a "gotcha"

the amount of the fines for a handful of people would allow you to rent a billboard...

Did you guys ask to see the speed on the radar? If so, what did he say? Did it show the alleged speed?
You have got to be kidding me. Even *IF* he used a radar, you would not be able to see the speed. For example, the radar I use when I'm on patrol does not "Save" speeds. After I clock a violator for speeding, I continue to monitor his speed while I am catching up to him until he pulls over. When he pulls over, the radar does not record a speed because he is stopped.

As for the OP and route 231 near Cottondale, I have heard the cops are very strict when it comes to speeding.

Here are the Speed Trap signs somebody else was talking about

March 23 2013. Cottondale Fla.my 16 year old daughter was behind me going under the posted limit of 35. We were stopped at a light I looked up and saw a cop behind her. She called me and told me that he was headed north bound we were south bound. SHE told me that he dix a u turn in the middle of 231 and got between her and the car behind her. She was doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! She said momma he is getting ready to stop me and sure as hell blue lights. Corurse I pulled over too and knew not to get out but I did open my c ar door and he yells at me to get back n my car and I said no that is my daughter and what is the problem. He said I know that and I'm going to tell her to back off u. I said she is following me and not tail gating. The B..... never asked her for her license or registration. I know he ran her tags found out that a16 yr old female owned the car and wanted to get a look at the cute young thing driving!¡ I was so freaking angry I'm luckey he didn't arrest me!!! That was pure out and out harrassment and I intend to do something about it. Unfortunately she and her other cute female friend didn't get his name but we all could pick him up N a line up!! We all were so upset we had to stop and calm down. Does anyone that has been falsley accused have any suggestions? Mayor attorney general governor whomever.

Pulled over by corporal o. Apparently i was speeding and i accept responsibility. However his conduct othe stop was unethicaand l and unconscienceable. I had to get new plate because i moved into new county. I hadnt changed out the plates and had the new one onthe passenger seat. My husband usually doesthose thinbgs for me and he was due back from afghanistanshortly. Well corporal o said that what i had done was an arrestable offense and he could take me to jail right now! As an aside,he was incorrect and had no grounds to arrest me because you have to put a plate from another vehicle to be arrested for attached tagnot assigned. Meanwhile my three year old is terrified in back seat because this man in a uniform is screaming at his mommy. Then mr oyells at me to get out of the car and change put the plate. So i do so withput question and get back inthe car. My son is crying inthe backseat cryingand asking me if thebad man is going to takeme away from him. Mr o is a predator and thrives on the power he wields, and the abuse he wreaks on innocent people. I called fdle and they said to call internal affairs or chief. Turns out the chief approves of mr o's conduct. Meanwhile my son now fears men in uniforms.....thanks mr o for scaring an innocent little boy

Just because the speed limit drops and goes back up doesn't mean that it's a "speed trap." There are guidelines that are set by the USDOT about speed limits on certain roadways. The speed limit depends on things such as traffic volume, the amount of driveway access to the road, intersecting roadways, etc. In addition, the Florida Statutes also set basic speed limits for areas within and outside municipalities.

The speed limit may not drop in anything greater than a 10mph change, so that's why it can't drop from 65 to 35. 35 is the normal speed limit for a roadway within a municipality, although there are many roadways inside municipalities that have both lower and higher speed limits depending on the particular area. For example, an interstate highway running through a municipality may have a 55mph speed limit while a road in a business or residential area with pedestrian traffic may have a 25mph speed limit.

It's not at all uncommon for speed limits on roadways in the wide open country to be high and then get lower as you enter a city or town where there are buildings, residences, and other potential traffic hazards. That's the way the roadway system is set up to work. After you pass through the town then the speed limit goes back up to what it was. It's not a conspiracy. It's not illegal. It's just the way that roads are designed to handle the traffic flow.

Obviously there are certain cities and towns that seize upon this opportunity to strictly enforce speeding laws and write a very large and disproportionate amount of tickets, however that doesn't mean that it's wrong to lower the speed limit and then raise it back up. Speed limits drop and then go back up in practically every city that a major roadway goes through.

Default Officer Otis

My mom went through there and he wheeled into a gas station and gave her a ticket because she was over the line into a handicap spot while trying to get air in her trailer tire. Even though we had my 80 year old grand parents with us. Officer Otis was so incredibly rude. We wouldn't have protested the ticket if it had not been for how he handled the situation. Beware of Officer Otis. He is a pig, he's arrogant and is doing his city a disservice.
