Conclusion: You don't get used to it / or / many don't get used to it!

Maybe your ability to get used to the heat will be largely dependent on where you come from. If you're from another state with a warmer climate, you might tend to get used to the heat in Florida? I don't know. All I know is that I have NOT gotten used to this heat!
I dont understand why it takes 5 or 20 years to decide one does not like the heat or why someone would subject themselves to something that do not like for so long. It's like wearing a "kick me" sign on your back.

Before you pronounce judgment on someone, might help to get all the facts ... everybody's situation is different.

What is it with you? Dont you have another house to haunt? I am not pronouncing judgement. I make a statement. Yeah, everybodys situation is different. They get here. They hate the heat. They stay 5-20 years and leave because of the heat.

You've made the same statement a thousand times - what added value does it have for the 1,001 time ??!!!

If I had a nickel for every time you wondered on the board why people stay in Florida if it's so hot, I'd be a really rich guy ....

Get over yourself, not everyone likes the sauna bath that is Florida in the summer.

I think YOU need to get over yourself. It is none of your concern how times I "wonder" the same situation. No, not everyone likes the summer FL heat but I can assure you that if I found it to be unbearable in my first summer I would make arrangement to be gone from it ASAP instead of hanging around 5-20 years complaining about it or suffering from it.

If you don't like what I post put me on block. I will add you to my list because I am tired of you commenting on my posts without ever stating much except your thoughts.

I'll have to side with you on this one.
My sister moved from here for many reasons. The HOT summers (which last around 8 months) was one of them.
And sometimes, repeating one's opinion with slightly different wording IS a good thing. During "arguments/discussions," this is an effective way or expressing how strongly one feels about one's opinion.

Please do ... and quit posting the same redundant, obvious stuff over and over and over .... people complain all the time about the cold up north, but they CAN'T LEAVE for whatever reason.

Slightly different wording is the key here ... it never is ..

Don't you think someone who found the heat offensive would leave IF THEY COULD ???

As for getting used to it, I've been here 12 years now. I still wouldn't say I'm "USED" to it... Accustomed would be the better word. The heat indexes due to the humidity, the hot nights, and the fact that summer lasts around 8 months, my body can't seem to get to comfortable with.
That said, however, I am much more tolerant now than I was when I first visited as a child.
Would I go back to the snow? Perhaps... Just to visit.

I get that:
Not everyone can leave.
Even if I wanted to, I can't: Job, kids, wife, house, etc.)

I would probably just try and make the most of it and find ways to enjoy the heat, though... Knowing that I'm "stuck."
