Hi,
I will be moving to Clermont, FL in a few weeks from NYC. I need to find a car and a job as I have a house already. My field is in Marketing, Event Planning and Office Administration. I am not sure of the job market down there. I am willing to drive 30 - 40 minutes for a job. I also want to volunteer. I use to volunteer for New York Cares. Is there a organization that is like that down there. I am also half Black and Latino and was worried about racism as I hear it is high in the South? Please advise. Thank You

Really looking forward to moving to Clermont.

Yikes, if you don't have a job already hopefully you're prepared financially to wait at least 6 months to find a job. The unemployment rate is around 10%. Bear in mind the quantity of professional positions here are lacking in proportion to the population as most jobs are service-economy oriented, and very often part-time. Given your location and ability/desire to drive 30-40 minutes for work you might expand your job search to the Lakeland area as well. Depending upon where in Clermont you live it might take around 45 minutes. Lastly, I wouldn't call the Clermont area the most welcoming in terms of diversity but I don't think it'll be quite the preconceived notion you have of the South.

I live somewhat close to Clairmont. I like the area, and I find Clairmont a nice place to shop, etc. It is hillier then many parts of Florida.

Job-wise you might find better prospects in Orlando, pretty much within your range.

Car-wise I recently spent the afternoon in Clairmont looking for another car. I can tell you I'd stay far from Napleton Dodge. They were rude and unprofessional. The Chevy dealer just up from them were very good. We ended up buying two cars from a dealership just north of Leesburg. The cars closer to The Villages seem to have low mileage due to being traded in more often. Villagers drive their golf carts more, their cars less, etc.
