So, the guy was holding the spot while his buddy was coming around with the car. OK, how is he in the wrong? The other driver should have said OK and gone on. Why would he argue with someone over a non-issue? Is there a rule I am not aware of that disallows holding a parking spot? How about holding a seat at a movie theater or a chair at a public pool? Not allowed?

So what is the end of the story?

Anybody can call a radio station with a story but I cant understand why a radio station would put something as stupid as that on the air. Was the station trying to make a point?

You mean you have heard of this situation before?

Yeah, a lot of NY people are awesome. Recently a guy pulled off his shirt and gave it to a shivering homeless guy on a subway. A lady recently took off her shoes and handed them to a lady that didnt have any on. A cop bought a pair of boots for a homeless guy on the street. Yeah, these sort of things happen elsewhere too, but there are some awesome people in NY. Not all, but some.

Fireman and police in NYC do some awesome stuff every day.

It could have been worse I guess.......

I'm not sure why it aired. They do crazy/stupid stuff on the radio a lot.

Yes I've heard of this before. It probably happens a lot but I remember a girl was getting arrested in the Tampa area several yrs ago, and she told the cops here they can't arrest her, her brother is a cop in NY.

Absolutely NYPD and NYFD do great things just as other cops and firefighters do.

I just think it's weird and pointless for so many NYers to announce it for everyone to know. I don't know why they think people care. I've never seen it or heard it from others.

Do you really want me to pull up FL stories of shootings or animal abuse? I don't think you do. How about the guy that threw a small alligator through the drive thru window of a Wendy's or the countless shootings here?

While I don't necessarily agree with lots of what you've been saying, I can vouch for this... A few years ago, back in my hey-days of partying and going out, I was confronted by some random dude because I was interacting with a group of girls he wanted to be with. I told him to get on his way and leave me alone, and his reply was something to the effect of "What you gonna do? I'm from New York!" As if that was supposed to intimidate me. Never mind the fact that I've spent lots of time in NYC to the point of having called it my "other home" at one point.

Stating "I'm from New York" like it is supposed to mean something or carry any weight has to be in the top ten of the dumbest things a person could utter.

Anybody who does state that as a means of intimidation or is one–upmanship is a fool that should immediately be ignored.

A true New York tough guy just reaches out, grabs you by the throat and stuffs you into a trash can and goes on his way. ((Yep, seen it happen!)).

If you dont have something better than "I'm from New York" you're going to get your butt kicked.

People like this group would never consider trying to prove themselves with "I'm from New York"
