I never make it a point to tell anyone I'm from NY.
If someone asks, then whatever.

Florida may seem like its becoming like Up North or NY/NJ BUT I do see a California influence a lot of you don't too. A % from SoCal moved here I feel and ended up making some of this like there too, on top of the stereotypical Yankees who came.. Theres no wonder why Clearwater area feels like a disaster at times. As good as all these pizza places are, they all seem to bring tons of traffic with them or in locations where more pizza places per capita are. I don't know what it is but it seems this way and I am mostly Italian. Wherever more are built, that's the closer it gets to officially imitating NY/NJ around these parts. The more country cooking or diners there are, chances are they're more spread out and theres less traffic. I would take that tradeoff though if the traffic was less but still wasn't totally the middle of nowhere either, just a nice balance that I see this area getting worse than frankly. Whats wrong with a place with a community spirit, few people, less traffic? But those places are getting highly scarce here in Florida. You would have to move north ultimately, maybe even South Carolina to get away from this. Definitely the upper peninsula of MI though.

Don't forget to add a good dose of "common sense" NYC gun laws. You should be treated like a criminal at all times. Limited to what you can own and then you'll have to jump through many expensive hoops before you'll be approved. Look at the improvements it made to NYC.
